A one-off bespoke Fuoriserie car heads to auction benefitting Festival Napa Valley
The bespoke Maserati Fuoriserie GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello crafted to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Tignanello wine, an expression by the celebrated Antinori wine making family, is being featured in an auction benefitting Festival Napa Valley on 14 July 2024. It’s their second collaboration —the first was the beautiful Allegra Antinori’s ONE OF ONE in 2019—and celebrates the ongoing innovation of the two iconic Italian brands, with Maserati celebrating its 110th anniversary and the Antinori family’s 600 years of winemaking.
The bespoke all-electric GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello was specifically designed to embody the characteristics of Antinori’s Tignanello vineyard in Chianti. The car’s exterior is painted in a custom chestnut color, inspired by the vineyard’s rich soil, and accented with a coppery burgundy inspired by the wine; the matching glossy copper Maserati trident logo is a nice touch.
Seats are upholstered with a unique silver and burgundy ribbed woven fabric made from Vegea, a sustainable material derived from vineyard byproducts. This material reduces environmental impact and enhances the cabin’s aesthetic, reflecting the rows of vines at Tignanello. The use of dark briar wood with lasered details, mimicking the oak barrels used in wine aging, adds another layer of depth to the car’s luxurious interior. The Trident and Antinori brands play well together when tastefully placed in the car.
The auctioning of this special model at Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala signifies more than just a transaction; it is a contribution to the arts and community. Proceeds from the auction will support charitable efforts, providing free and affordable access to the arts for the local community.
Just as the Folgore, the first all-electric convertible represents technological advancement, the collaboration embodies the spirit of a wine that changed the landscape of Italian winemaking. Tignanello was revolutionary as the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques and one of the first red wines in Chianti Classico blending traditional and non-traditional grape varieties. Just as the wine has left a lasting impact on the industry, so too does this special edition vehicle aim to leave its mark—not just as a high-performance luxury car but as a symbol of sustainable innovation and cultural heritage.
